I've told my family that I wouldn't be so paranoid if everyone wasn't out to get me. If you share that mentality, you might be interested in what the favorite conspiracy theory is for both Missouri and Illinois. In both cases, the answer is over your head. Literally.

I found this ranking from US Direct very entertaining. There's some actual science involved here as they tabulated the number of searches in each state for various conspiracy theories. Here's the part of the map they created that's focused on our part of America.

Both Missouri and Illinois seem to believe that the black helicopters are out to get us. If you haven't embraced that theory, the idea is that black helicopters are part of a conspiratorial government takeover (wait, I thought they were already in charge?) as confirmed by Wikipedia. I've heard it said that the black helicopters are actually a mechanism of the United Nations for their "planned" invasion of America. Oh, boy.

You think I'm making this up? Watch.

I could share dozens of others, but I'll spare you. Let me clarify something. I am a fan of some conspiracy theories. I think there are many well-intended people that maybe aren't wrong about some things. However, I prefer a little more evidence than just jumping on the "I see a helicopter and don't know where it's from so it's evil" bandwagon. To each his/her own though.

Make sure to check out the full ranking to see which states believe that New Coke is a government plot. Looking at you, east coast.
