In a Few Days, 400 Missouri Residents Will Begin Hunting Bears
It's about to become much more dangerous to be a bear in Missouri as 400 residents will soon head to the woods to help control their population.
The Missouri Department of Conservation just dropped a video reminder about the upcoming black bear hunting season which begins on October 21 and continues through October 30, 2024 or until the 40 bear quota is reached.
There are 3 different bear management zones in Missouri and different quotas for each zone based on the perceived population in those parts of the state.
Those in Missouri who applied for permits either had to be hunter education certified or excluded by age. The time guidelines allow hunters to be after the bears a half hour prior to sunrise until a half hour after sunset only. There is no bait allowed and dogs are not permitted to be a part of the hunt.
All hunters in Missouri that received a permit are asked to contact the Department of Conservation each day to make sure the quota has not been reached yet. Once a zone quota is reached, bear hunting is over in that area.
It's a good idea to double-check all the guidelines directly through the Missouri Department of Conservation website to make sure everyone is clear on what the upcoming bear season involves.
