B-2 Stealth Bombers often fly over Missouri, but they're not seen that often. That will change in September as this elite aircraft is scheduled to be a part of an air show in the Missouri Ozarks.

I just saw this share from the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show on social media this morning. It mentions the appearance of a very famous (and lethal) stealth bomber coming to their event in September.

In case you can't read the small print on your device, here are details:

  • B-2 Stealth Bomber from Whiteman Air Force Base
  • Lake of the Ozarks Air Show
  • September 12, 2026 - 8am - 4pm
  • Admission is free

What are the technical details of the B-2 "Spirit" Stealth Bomber?

  • Wingspan: 172 feet (52.4 meters)
  • Length: 69 feet (21 meters)
  • Height: 17 feet (5 meters)
  • Empty Weight: 160,000 pounds (72,575 kg)
  • Maximum Takeoff Weight: 336,500 pounds (152,634 kg)
  • Engines: Four General Electric F118-GE-100 turbofans
  • Thrust: 17,300 pounds per engine
  • Top Speed: High subsonic (approx. 628 mph / 1,010 km/h)
  • Combat Ceiling: 50,000 feet (15,240 meters)
  • Range: 6,000 nautical miles unrefueled; ~10,000 nautical miles with one aerial refueling

I remember when there were reports of one of these stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base that was spotted over my part of Missouri. By the time I heard about it, it was gone. Due to the fact that these bad boys are station in Missouri, they fly over the state frequently, but they're built to not be seen. The air show in the Missouri Ozarks in September will be one of the rare times when you know where they'll be and can grab some photos. That doesn't happen often.
