Authorities in Missouri are still trying to learn exactly what went wrong as they investigate a mass casualty event in Missouri after a home suddenly exploded in the middle of the night.

The Jefferson City, Missouri Fire Department shared this harrowing description of what happened overnight in the 2400 block of St. Louis Road.

In case you can't read the status update from their Facebook post, their understanding is six individuals were in the home at the time of the explosion. They say that the injuries ranged from moderate to critical and some of those in the home required multiple EMS teams to stabilize them during transport to area hospitals. All individuals were transported to University Hospital in Columbia, but two had to be life-flighted there.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once more details are released by Missouri investigators.
