It's amazing what you can accomplish in a week. The Illinois State Police proved that point as they just completed a terrifying crackdown in Chicagoland and have the scars to prove it.

The Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police just revealed that they spent June 5 through June 9 with a focus of cracking down on parts of Cook County, Illinois that have suffered the greatest amount of violence especially of the firearm variety including Dan Ryan, Bishop Ford, I-57 and I-290 expressways.

Here are the raw numbers of the many charges and findings from this Chicagoland crackdown:

  • Arrests - 20
  • Felony Charges - 13
  • Criminal Charges - 32
  • Firearm Related Charges - 6
  • Firearms Seized - 7
  • Stolen Vehicles Recovered - 6

In addition, the report says they recovered several stolen vehicles and "a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine".

The teams that completed this sting were massive and included "40 officers from ISP Troop 3, ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Violent Crimes Unit, ISP Air Operations, Chicago Police Department, and South Holland Police Department joined forces with the ISP Special Operations Group Statewide Anti-Violence Enforcement North Unit". The Illinois State Police also said the state attorney general's office provided support during this week of hammering on Chicagoland violent areas.
