24/7 Wall St just named the counties in each state that have the least expensive homes. Does this sign look familiar? It should. Anyone who's driven through Edina has likely passed it by at some point.

24/7 Wall St says that Knox County has the least expensive homes in Missouri. While the average home price in Missouri is north of $300,000, the median home price in Knox County is only $62,363. Some other interesting stats say that homes in Knox County tend to be smaller than the average listed in the state with the median being around 1,100 square feet while the state average is over 1,800.

Everyone in northeast Missouri knows that Knox County is by and large agriculture. My guess is that there are a lot of family farms that are not and never will be for sale which leaves just a few select homes in the small communities that are the reason for the lower average price for homes that are actually available.

I did a search on Realtor.com for homes in Knox County and as of this writing there are only 24 available. More than half of those were listed for less than $100,000.
