Postal Investigators Bust Illinois Serial Mail Theft Suspect
Everyone makes mistakes, but if someone repeats those mistakes constantly, there are bigger issues. That's what investigators think happened involving a serial mail theft suspect in Illinois who has allegedly committed this crime over and over again.
The US Postal Inspection Service shared news on their Facebook page recently of what they say a man in Illinois was up to. They believe he was involved in many burglaries and mail thefts in Illinois starting in 2024.
The United States Postal Inspection Service says that Jeremy Zaloun, 50, of Chicago, Illinois has been indicted as a suspect and charged with one felony count each of burglary and possession of burglary tools after they discovered a genuine postal arrow key on his person after he was already in custody for an unrelated burglary and mail theft incident. The charges claim that he was responsible for mail theft in the Chicago area starting earlier in 2024 along the Loop and North side region. These charges in Cook County are a result of investigations conducted by Chicago police and the US Postal Service.
“The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is dedicated to defending the nation’s mail system from criminal activity, protecting United States Postal Service employees, and preserving the integrity of the U.S. Mail,” said Ruth M. Mendonça, Inspector in Charge, Chicago Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. “We value our law enforcement partners for supporting our mission.”
