A concerted effort involving multiple Illinois law enforcement agencies has resulted in 56 criminal charges from a crackdown in the central region of the state.

The Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police just shared details of an operation that was completed June 15 - 20 in Peoria, Tazewell and Warren counties. It says the focus of their efforts were "known high fatality crash areas, high crime areas, organized violent offenders, and criminal groups". Here are the numbers from that 5-day criminal crackdown in those central Illinois counties:

  • Suspects Arrested 41
  • Felony Charges 25
  • Total Criminal Charges 56
  • Firearms Recovered/Seized 1
  • Cannabis Recovered - Grams 247
  • Controlled Substances Recovered - Grams 234.5

This massive sweep was completed by the following Illinois local and state law enforcement agencies:

    Enforcement Bureau

This Illinois law enforcement focus utilized many new technologies that are now available to officers to make their time and work more efficient such as Automated License Plate Readers, Next Generation 911 and AI & Real-Time Data Centers. It's like McGruff the Crime Dog used to say...it's new ways to take a bite out of (Illinois) crime.
