This is why I really need to check my wife's penny jar. There are a handful of 1943 pennies in circulation that have one unique feature that means if you find it in Missouri, you're likely a millionaire.
If you know your coin history, you know that 1943 pennies were made out of steel when they were minted. There are a few exceptions that slipped through though that were made from copper instead. The Coin Guy on TikTok showed what you need to look for.
First, you need a 1943 wheat penny.
The copper version is slightly heavier than the steel version. It will NOT stick to a magnet.
This is the last 1943 copper wheat penny that sold at auction for over $800,000.
The current value according to his video which was just shared only 4 days ago is now over a million bucks.
When I was a kid growing up in Missouri, my dad gave me the choice to either collect stamps or coins. I chose stamps. This new video proves that I did NOT choose wisely.
