#6 Mizzou Welcomes #24 Boston College
The eyes of college football will be turned toward Columbia, Mo. Saturday to see the sixth ranked Tigers host the twenty fourth ranked Boston College Eagles.
A win for the Tigers builds confidence heading toward the SEC schedule. A BC win and the Eagles step squarely into the national spotlight as they have already defeated previously tenth ranked and traditional ACC power Florida St. on the road already this season.
The Eagles offense runs through QB Thomas Castellanos who is making waves and getting attention early this fall with his dynamic play. He can run, he can throw and make something from nothing. Boston College will also employ a posse of running backs to help carry the load and their offensive line is big enough to open running lanes.
Head Coach and Boston native Bill O’Brien has previously been in charge at Penn St. and in the NFL with the Houston Texans. He is an offense centered guy who has worked with a lot of gifted quarterbacks through his career. He will have a creative plan ready for Mizzou.
Mizzou hasn’t been scored on. The defense has been fierce and physical so far, but this Eagle line and offense are definitely not Murray St. or Buffalo. The Eagle offense also hasn’t turned the ball over this season. Trends are set collide at Faurot Field.
Mizzou’s offense will look to manage the clock and drive down the field, keeping Castellanos off the field. Expect Brady Cook to look for Luther Burden III and Theo Wease down the field just to keep the Eagle defense honest.
The 2024 campaign can ignite Saturday for the sixth ranked Tigers or the twenty fourth ranked Eagles. One team will come away undefeated with a larger narrative taking shape for their season. The other will see it as a missed opportunity. The eyes of college football are watching.
