A Warrenville, Illinois man who was seeking adventure a la Tom and Huck rafting on the Mississippi, got a little too adventurous Friday.

The incident began when 27 year old Trevor Golas was spotted by barge workers floating down the Mississippi, clinging to driftwood near Saverton.

Golas was contacted by the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office, but refused assistance. He appeared to be intoxicated and went ashore near Saverton and subsequently attempted to steal a watercraft. Missouri Highway Patrol Troopers arrested Golas for theft of a watercraft and possession of a glass container on a waterway. He was later released.
