Hannibal’s Young Masters will be on display at the Hannibal Arts Council from April 1 through 28. Each April the Hannibal Arts Council fills its gallery with select works by Hannibal’s 5th Grade, 8th Grade and Hannibal High School students. The exhibit is being sponsored by the Hannibal Pirate Family Foundation and the Missouri Arts Council.

Participating schools at the fifth grade level are Veterans, Mark Twain, Oakwood, Eugene Field, Stowell and Holy Family. Participating schools at the eighth grade level are Hannibal Middle School and Holy Family. Students participating in the Hannibal High School Art Department classes fill out the district-wide exhibit. Each instructor selected a specific number of pieces to be included in the exhibit.

Thanks to a generous gift from the George H. Riedel Private Foundation, five students from each grade level will recognized with a $25 award and featured in an exhibit at F&M Bank’s Broadway branch following the HAC exhibit. The Hannibal High School Art Department art instructors will give additional awards at their grade levels.

A closing reception and awards for the exhibit will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. HAC gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. HAC is closed Tuesdays and Sundays. In addition to regular gallery hours, other viewing options include 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 11 during Second Saturday Gallery Night.
