(Hannibal)--It started when a vehicle was observed running a stop sign Friday night on Marion County Road 418. When the Marion County Deputy attempted to stop the speeding car just east of Veterans Road, the chase began.

The pursuit continued to Paris Gravel Road and on to the Highway 61 intersection at the southern edge of Hannibal, where the suspect struck another vehicle, forcing it into the median.  The subject managed to continue fleeing down Market Street, where Police report his vehicle hit speeds of 90 miles an hour before crashing while trying to navigate a turn.

The subject then fled the crash scene on foot as the Marion County Deputy and Hannibal Police pursued him to a creek bed.  Officers say a struggle  ensued with the subject, and the Deputy used a Taser to subdue him.

21 year-old Steven Craig Caskey of 711 Sycamore in Hannibal was taken to the Marion County Jail on charges of Failure to Yield for an Emergency Vehicle, Hit and Run Accident, Driving While Revoked, and Resisting a Police Officer.
