Two of Hannibal's floodgates will go in this morning, according to Hannibal Emergency Management Director John Hark.

Hark says the predicted crest of the Mississippi at Hannibal is now 20.8 feet on Monday, nearly 5 feet above the 16 feet flood stage.  The Hill and Center Street gates are installed when the river stage is expected to exceed 20.5 feet.

The gates on Broadway and Main Street will not be going in at this point.  The trigger point for their installation is a crest prediction of 21.5 feet.

Hark says the forecast for the coming week looks to be dry, at least for the next 5 days.  When the river drops below 18 feet, the Hill and Center St. gates will be removed.
