The Hannibal Cavemen baseball team capitalized on a wild pitch in the 9th inning Saturday. The Cavemen spotted the Springfield Sliders 6 runs until the bottom of the 5th, when Hannibal chipped away at the lead, scoring three times.  KHMO Sports Director Bill Shuler says the Cavemen tied things up 6-6 in the 7th.  Hannibal took the lead in the 8th inning, 7 to 6. Springfield answered back by plating 3 runs in the top of the 9th.  But the Cavemen prevailed in the bottom of the 9th, scoring the winning run on a wild pitch.

The Cavemen had 10 runs on 12 hits and 5 errors.  Springfield had 9 runs on 8 hits with 5 errors.  Sunday the Hannibal Cavemen travel to Springfield.  Their next home game is Thursday evening.  Catch all the action on khmoradio.com beginning at 6:20.

Cards pitcher Adam Wainwright  helped his cause by hitting a two-run double as the Cards pick up a win on the road Saturday in Washington,  D.C.  Matt Holliday homered for the Cards, as the Redbirds scored 4 times in the second inning.
