An Iowa-based retailer has chosen Hannibal as the home of its second location.

The Hannibal Regional Economic Development Council announced Thursday that Dutch Country General Store in Bloomfield, Iowa will expand its brick and mortar footprint with a second location in Hannibal by the spring of 2020.

Dutch Country officials say they considered 20 Midwest communities for its expansion. They said they were impressed with the Hannibal community and believe their business will make a great long term addition to the retail landscape in the downtown area.

The flagship Dutch Country General Store location opened in 2012, featuring handmade products, Amish wood furniture, food, candy, quilts and more.
