(Undated) – Both the Hannibal Cavemen and Quincy Gems lost in Prospect League play last night.

The Cavemen lost to the Danville Dans in Danville last night by a 6-4 score.

The Dans jumped on top with three runs in the first off starter and loser Kevin Lenkman. Hannibal pulled to within a run in the third, thanks to a two-run homer by Ian Sikes. But, Danville scored a fun the fourth and two in the fifth, while the Cavemen put up single tallies in the fifth and the seventh.

The Cavemen fall to 9-7 on the season, a game behind the Gems in the Prospect League West.

Meanwhile, the Gems lost at home to division leading DuBois County 2-1 in a game called in the ninth because of rain.

The Bombers scored a run in the second and a run in the fourth off the Gems’ Sam Coonrod, while the Gems could only manage a single tally in the fourth on an RBI by Zach George. The Gems fall to 10-6.

The Cavemen return home to face the Terre Haute Rex tonight at Clemens Field at 6:35 p.m. You’ll hear that game on khmoradio.com. The Gems are also at home tonight as the Springfield Sliders come to town at 6:30.
