BALTIMORE (AP) - Carlos Martinez struck out eight over six sharp innings, and the St. Louis Cardinals hit a season-high five home runs in an 11-2 rout of the struggling Baltimore Orioles on Friday night. Rookie Paul DeJong homered, singled twice, scored three runs and had three RBIs to help St. Louis.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Anthony Rizzo almost led off his third straight game with a homer, losing his bid on a replay reversal, before helping key a six-run rally in the ninth inning that sent the Chicago Cubs over the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-5 Friday night. The Cubs won for just the third time in nine games. Manager Joe Maddon wasn't around to see the comeback - he was ejected in the first inning after Rizzo's drive into the Allegheny River was ruled a foul ball.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Lorenzo Cain hit two homers and drove in three runs, and Ian Kennedy retired the first 17 Angels to end his 16-start winless skid in the Kansas City Royals' sixth consecutive victory, 3-1 over Los Angeles Friday night. Cain posted the fifth multi-homer game of his career and his second in a week, connecting for solo shots in the third and eighth.

TORONTO (AP) - Melky Cabrera homered, doubled and drove in five runs against his former team, leading Jose Quintana and the Chicago White Sox over the Toronto Blue Jays 11-4 Friday night. Cabrera connected for his seventh homer, a three-run drive in the fifth inning that made it 11-2. The White Sox went to win for the fifth time in seven games.
