3/5ths For Illinois Pension Hikes
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois House has approved a plan to amend the state constitution to require a three-fifths vote of the House and Senate to increase government retirement plans. The measure would go before voters in November if it also passes the Senate. Most pension sweeteners over the years have passed by more
than a three-fifths majority so it's not clear how much the
amendment would help in controlling costs.
