A number of local agencies came together to make Christmas brighter for about 800 Marion, Ralls and Lewis county children.

The local U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program had a distribution Wednesday, December 17 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center in Hannibal.

About 380 low-income families qualified for assistance. Along with the toys, the Salvation Army provided toys and food baskets.

Among the organizations coming together to run Toys for Tots and provide help for the distribution were Douglass Community Services, Hannibal Parks and Recreation, RSVP, Hannibal Regional Hospital, FACT, Tom Boland Ford, Lone Wolf Club, Hannibal Fire Department and Hannibal High School.
