On Saturday, October 26, the Quincy Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted medications.
The Quincy Police Department held a news conference at Washington Park this afternoon, and announced an arrest in the case of Newcomb Hotel fire. 24-year-old Matthew C. Clark has been arrested in the case.
We all have medications that we no longer use yet for some reason we hang onto them. Unfortunately, by doing so, the chances increase that someone, primarily younger people , will get them and "experiment " by using them with other medications or alcohol.
The Quincy Police Department has scheduled a neighborhood meeting in the city for this Tuesday night. The meeting is open to all residents of the city but is primarily for residents living in the area of 12th to 24th streets from Broadway to State streets. The meeting will be held at the Chapel at Chaddock School located at 205 South 24th Street on Tuesday night at 7pm.
The Quincy Police Department will be trying to raise funds for Special Olympics tomorrow morning and afternoon. The QPD will be set up at two different locations, 24th and Harrison and 18th and State, this Friday, July 19 for the Spare Change for Real Change Special Olympics fundraiser.
The Quincy Commons Shopping Center has received the "all clear" for people to return to the area after an early morning gas leak forced evacuation of the area.
It is hard for me to even fathom having a missing child or grandchild. Unfortunately, there are thousands of children every year who become missing. With that in mind, National Missing Children’s Day is recognized nationally each year and will be held this Saturday, May 25.
Detective Anjanette Biswell was nominated and received the 2013 Missing Children’s Law Enforcement Award from the United States Department of Justice due to her investigation and subsequent arrest and prosecution of Gregory Korschot in 2012. Biswell received the award in the Department of Justice Great Hall in Washington, DC on May 15, 2013.
There will be a Neighborhood Watch meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Quincy Public Library, 526 Jersey. Sgt. Duane Long with the Quincy Police Department will be in attendance to address questions or concerns about personal protection/firearms.
