Commissioners in Pike County, Missouri are looking at setting up a 9-1-1 board.

The discussions are a first step toward centralizing the emergency service and eventually building one dispatch facility.

Right now, the commission is in charge of the service and emergency vehicles are sent out from Bowling Green and Louisiana. A 9-1-1 board would take over the duties.   Commissioners are discussing whether the board should have five, seven or nine members. The first group would probably be appointed, with future membership likely left up to voters.

No decisions have been reached.
