(BOWLING GREEN)--   Niemann Foods expects to convert the Bowling Green IGA to a County Market early next month. The family-owned company based in Quincy announced in February that it was buying the Bowling Green store and IGAs in Mexico, Vandalia and Winfield.

Meanwhile, Niemann’s says it is still in negotiations to buy the former Kroger grocery store in Louisiana. The building in the Twin Pike Shopping Center has been vacant for four months.

Talks have stalled over Kroger’s long-term lease on the building, which doesn’t expire until later this year.

Niemann was founded in 1917 by two brothers. It operates almost 100 supermarkets, convenience centers, pet shops and hardware stores in Illinois, Missouri and Iowa.
