Hannibal Parks & Rec Hosts ‘Wild Edibles Cookout’ July 19

There will be a Wild Edibles Cookout at the large shelter at Huckleberry Park Wednesday, July 19, sponsored by the Hannibal Parks & Recreation.

Anyone interested in trying one of the edibles is welcome to attend anytime between 5 and 7 p.m.

Gale Rublee, nature educator, will be cooking daylilies and wild carrot (Queen Anne’s Lace) fritters. She said, “It’s good for families, they will learn about nature through direct personal experience.”

There will be a nature scavenger hunt along with the edibles samples.

Rublee had been a professional storyteller and teacher-naturalist for school groups at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Shaw Nature Reserve. She is now the youth coordinator and acting teacher for Bluff City Theater’s Academy and YETI (Youth Education Theater Initiative) program.
