The report that 1,000 Family Dollar stores would be closing this year now appears to have local repercussions. We now know that at least 3 northeast Missouri Family Dollar stores will be a part of those mass closings based on a new report.

I recently shared the sad news that Dollar Tree had announced it would close 1,000 Family Dollar stores this year in addition to around 30 Dollar Tree locations that are underperforming. I saw today that KTVO in Kirksville has confirmed that 3 northeast Missouri Family Dollar stores will be a part of that initial rash of closings.

Here are the 3 Family Dollars in northeast Missouri that reportedly will be closing.

According to the report from the store manager, the LaPlata, Missouri Family Dollar will be closing in mid-April. All that is known at this current time is that the Shelbina and Unionville, Missouri Family Dollar stores will close sometime this year.

As this is a developing store, it will be updated as soon as new Missouri and Illinois Family Dollar and/or Dollar Tree locations are announced as a part of the ongoing restructuring of the company.
