The evidence discovery deadline has been extended in the first degree murder case of a Quincy man.

At a status hearing Tuesday, the attorney for 31 year old Derek McKenzie asked that the discovery deadline be extended from this Friday to November 13th.

The extension was granted to give a DNA expert more time to review evidence in the case.

McKenzie is accused of beating 48 year old Billy Graham to death with his fists and a metal clamp in an apartment above Izzey’s Bar and Grill on North 5th in December of 2015.

A status hearing has been set for November 14th.

McKenzie is in the Adams County Jail on $5-million dollars bond.
