LOUIS (AP) - Ian Desmond drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to cap a two-run ninth-inning rally and the Texas Rangers overcame a late three-run deficit to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 Saturday. Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled outfielder Tommy Pham from Triple-A Memphis. The Cardinals also optioned outfielder Randal Grichuk to Triple-A on Saturday. (The moves were made before St. Louis hosted Texas. Pham injured his oblique on opening day. He was hitting a combined .250 with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 37 games with Memphis and Double-A Springfield.)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Kendrys Morales drove in five runs with four hits, Paulo Orlando also had four hits and the Kansas City Royals routed the Detroit Tigers 16-5 Saturday night. The Royals' 21 hits and 16 runs were season highs. Whit Merrifield added three hits and four RBIs, and seven Royals had at least two hits at Kauffman Stadium.

CHICAGO (AP) - Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and David Ross each homered to back Jon Lester and lead the Chicago Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday night. The major league-leading Cubs improved to a season-high 26 games above .500 while the Pirates lost for the ninth time in 10 games.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Mike Napoli homered during a five-run first inning as the Cleveland Indians became the latest team to tee off on James Shields, routing the Chicago White Sox 13-2 Saturday night.
