Hannibal’s Best Western on the River has been cleared to reopen its north facility.

The Courier Post reports hotel officials received a letter from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services saying the building can be reopened whenever they wish.

The Best Western had to close in November after a couple of guests became ill. The illnesses were caused by the Legionella bacteria.

The hotel has been closed since then so that all traces of the bacteria could be removed. DHSS staff took samples for testing December 14th.

The facility remains closed for maintenance which will reportedly continue into next week.
