A collision at 2:35 Friday morning involving an SUV and a train north of Canton injures a St. Louis woman.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 56 year old Mary Williams-Simms of St. Louis went off the east side of US 61 three miles north of Canton and vaulted over the railroad tracks. Troopers say Williams-Simms attempted to cross back over the tracks, became stuck and was hit by a northbound freight train. Troopers say the collision did not occur at a grade crossing so no signal device was used. Williams-Simms was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment of moderate injuries.
