After a delightful weather week, more summer-like temperatures return the northeast Missouri and western Illinois in the week ahead.

National Weather Service forecasters call for high temps of 90 Monday and 95 Tuesday, with heat index values Tuesday running as high as 101.

Coming in behind the heat is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Once the storm possibilities pass, temperatures will moderate, settling into the mid 80s through the weekend. Starting Wednesday, nighttime lows will drop to the mid to upper 60s.

Another chance of rain moves into the area Friday night, with a chance of precip through Sunday.
