The Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a shooter's education program on Thursday beginning in November.

The signup for the course is Thursday, October 23 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center at 6 p.m. You can also sign up at the first class Thursday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m.

The classes run through February 26, 2015 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The class is free and is a firearm safety awareness program for children ages 8-16.

The course covers fundamentals for firing a gun, ammunition knowledge and safe gun handling. Understand this is not a hunter certification course.

Awards will be handed out for improvement in target practice.
