This very concerning statement from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center concerns a developing weather system that is expected to impact Missouri and Illinois late Tuesday, February 27, 2024 into Wednesday, February 28, 2024. They say the trouble maker is "a powerful mid- to upper-level trough ejecting into the central U.S." That is expected to explode directly over Missouri.

What about a 'deep cyclone' over Missouri?

I am not a meteorologist, but my wife is. She explained that it's not as dire as it sounds, but it will make severe weather development possible and probably likely. The NOAA meteorologists say "A deep cyclone is currently progged by most ensemble members to move from the central Great Plains into the Great Lakes vicinity".

No, this does NOT mean a massive tornado is going to wipe us all away. It's a cyclonic system that will make developing storms possible and some could even be severe.

It's not typical that you'll see a statement this far out from a storm from NOAA for Missouri, but many models are in agreement of strong storm development. Consider this a heads up to paying attention to what the skies above you are doing next Tuesday.
