Pets Lose Limbs After Bout With Leg Traps

(Hannibal, Mo)—Hannibal Police say a dog and a cat each lost a leg recently after being caught in a spring loaded trap. The cat was injured in the 100 block of North Hayden; the dog was caught in a trap in the 100 block of Collins.

Police say these traps are illegal inside the city limits and pose a danger not only to pets, but also to small children.

City ordinances prohibit the use of spring loaded leg traps without permission of the Police Chief.

Anyone caught using unauthorized traps will be subject to citation.
