The quick action of a Palmyra woman, saving the life of a friend a year ago, was officially recognized by the community Friday.

Laura Sullivan received the Marion County Ambulance District’s Civilian Life Saver award in a surprise ceremony at Pal Bowl in Palmyra Friday.

On March 25th, 2017, Sullivan and Connie Patre were attending a youth bowling meeting at Pal Bowl when Patre started gasping for air and collapsed.

Sullivan, a nurse for the past 30 years and a CPR instructor, sprang into action, administering CPR until paramedics arrived, and likely saving Patre’s life.
