The newest variant of COVID that is now one of the fastest spreading in Missouri is known as JN.1 by the CDC. While it seems to also share much in common with other COVID variants like fever, runny nose, cough and headache, there are two new commonly reported symptoms victims are experiencing.

The Hill says that the JN.1 variant is now responsible for more than 25% of COVID cases in Missouri.

Only My Health says these are the two odd symptoms that could indicate that you're carrying the new JN.1 COVID variant.

An equal number of JN.1 variant patients (1 in 10) said that they experienced anxiety over and above anything they've experienced before.

There are a couple of very important things to note. First of all, according to the CDC, there is no indication that the JN.1 variant is causing any more serious complications or infections compared to previous and other existing variants. Second, they have not confirmed that the reports of new symptoms are something exclusive to JN.1 as data is still being analyzed. They add this:

The types of symptoms and how severe they are usually depend more on a person’s immunity and overall health rather than which variant causes the infection.

The fact that new patients are reporting odd new symptoms could very well be unique to them and not necessarily something that everyone who ends up with this new COVID variant experiences.
