Accidents on highways and waterways kept Missouri Troopers busy over the holiday weekend.  Here are some of the accidents troopers worked in NE Missouri:

ATV DRIVER FACING DWI CHARGES
An Iowa man is facing multiple charges after an ATV crash in Clark County. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. Saturday on County Road 230, 5 miles south of Wyaconda. Troopers say 43 year old Tony Hiatt of Le Claire, Iowa failed to negotiate a curve, causing the ATV to overturn and strike a tree. A 6 year-old passenger, Colin Hiatt sustained serious injuries and was flown to a Columbia hospital. Tony Hiatt was treated for minor injuries on the scene. Troopers charged him with DWI, Unlawfully operating an ATV on a highway, and unlawfully carrying a passenger on a seat not designed for such.

CAR PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT IN RALLS CO
A car versus pedestrian accident sends a Harvey, Illinois woman to the hospital Saturday afternoon. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the accident happened on Landing Lane, 4 miles south of Monroe City. Troopers report an SUV driven by 26 year old Derek Lewis of Hannibal was turning into a parking space when his vehicle struck 64 year-old Denise Carpenter. Carpenter suffered minor injuries and went to Hannibal Regional by ambulance.

PIKE COUNTY REAR END COLLISION INJURES TWO
A rear-end collision in Pike County injures both drivers. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the crash happened on US 54, east of Pike 291 at 1:20 p.m. Saturday. Troopers say a car driven by 25 year-old Samantha Crow of Louisiana was stopped in the roadway. Her car was struck from behind by a car driven by 30 year-old Amber Hirsch of Bowling Green. Crow was flown to a St. Louis hospital by Air Evac for treatment of serious injuries. Hirsch had moderate injuries and went to Hannibal Regional by ambulance. Both drivers were buckled up at the time of the crash.

TWO HANNIBAL MEN INJURED IN LINCOLN CO CRASH
Two Hannibal men escape with minor injuries after a two-car crash in Lincoln County. Missouri Troopers report the crash occurred on Highway 61 at Highway K shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday. Officers say 43 year-old Holly Leach of Troy was headed westbound when she failed to yield at the intersection. Her car struck the driver side of a southbound car driven by 47 year-old Joseph Mickels of Hannibal. Mickels and a passenger, 38 year old Joshua Inlow were taken to a St. Louis hospital by ambulance. Both men were wearing seat belts according to the report.

BWI CHARGES AFTER OZARKS BOAT CRASH
A St. Joseph, Missouri man is arrested after two boats collide on the Lake of the Ozarks at 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Missouri Troopers say a vessel piloted by 41 year-old Cletus Barsch encountered an oncoming vessel operated by 50 year-old Timothy Cox of Adel, Iowa. Cox attempted to avoid a collision by steering to the left, just as Barsch turned to the right. The Barsch vessel struck the bow of Cox’s boat. Two passengers in the Cox boat suffered minor injuries. A third passenger, 20 year old Alec Potthoff of Van Meter, Iowa, suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Columbia hospital. A passenger in the Barsch vessel was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Troopers charged Cletus Barsch with Boating While Intoxicated and Failure to Exercise the Highest Degree of Care of a Watercraft.
