(Hannibal)—It was a case of quality over quantity at this year’s Back to School Health Fair held at the Hannibal Regional Hospital Campus Saturday morning. Stephanie Thomeczek, CEO of F.A.C.T. (Families and Communities Together) says attendance declined this year but more children received important medical evaluations…the number of children receiving screenings doubled compared to last year.
Children participating in at least one health screening received a backpack at the event, but Thomeczek says distribution of remaining supplies will be handled differently this year…Free supplies including those gathered at the "Stuff the Bus" campaign will be handed out at individual schools based on need.
A number of community organizations partner to provide services and supplies for the annual event. School supply donations can still be dropped off at the FACT office on Melgrove Lane in Hannibal or you can call 573-221-2285 for more info.
