The son of an Olympic hero, prisoner of war and the subject of two motion pictures is the keynote speaker for Hannibal-LaGrange University’s annual Booster Banquet.

Luke Zamperini, the son of Louis Zamperini, is the featured speaker at HLGU’s 77th annual banquet Friday night.

Louis Zamperini participated in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and was a Japanese Prisoner of War during World War Two.

Zamperini was also the subject of a couple of popular movies, Unbroken, directed by Angelina Jolie in 2014 and Unbroken: Path to Redemption, released this fall.

Luke Zamperini will talk about how the discipline of athletics, scouting and education prepared his father for survival during his time as a POW and afterwards.
