(LIMA)—Adams County Board members Monday night heard a proposal for a hog confinement facility west of Lima that could house around five thousand hogs. There is significant opposition from neighbors.

A standing room only crown voiced concerns and presented questions to owner Daron Duke and his engineering firm. Odors… pollution and damage to roads were among the concerns of those speaking at the public hearing. Duke says if his operation is approved he plans to keep those issues at bay and will try to be a good neighbor.

The County Board will officially vote on a recommendation at their meeting next Tuesday, and that will then be sent to the Department of Agriculture for final approval.
