Thirty years after a St. Charles woman was killed, jury selection is underway for one of the men accused of killing her.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Brian McBenge and his brother, Cecil McBenge, were charged with first-degree murder in 2011 after DNA testing allegedly linked them to the Nov. 4, 1984, death of 84-year-old Elenora Knoernschild.

Court documents indicate that McBenge had previously dated Knoernschild's granddaughter. Authorities allege that McBenge knew she kept money hidden in her home.

The victim was found in her bedroom. Her home had been ransacked.

McBenge's attorney, Scott Rosenblum, says McBenge maintains his innocence.
