A southern Illinois man accused of cooking meth in front of his 2-year-old daughter has been sentenced to six years in state prison.

The Southern Illinoisan reports 26-year-old Timothy Carr of Creal Springs pleaded guilty last month to felony possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine. Charges of possession of meth manufacturing materials, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment were dropped in exchange for his plea.

Carr and his wife were arrested Jan. 14 at a motel in West Frankfort after police received an anonymous tip. Officers searched the room and discovered the couple had been cooking meth near their child.

The Illinois Department of Corrections says Carr's expected parole date is Jan. 15, 2018.

He's serving his sentence at Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
