A Quincy man accused of murder in an early December shooting pleads not guilty.

51 year old Christopher Huckstep entered the not guilty plea Wednesday morning in Adams County Circuit Court.

Huckstep is accused of fatally shooting Emond Morris in the 700 block of Cedar shortly after 3:30 a-m on December 4th of 2019.

Huckstep was arrested a short time later in the 1200 block of North 12th and was in possession of a firearm at the time of the arrest. Quincy Police say Huckstep and Morris knew each other and that this is not a random incident.

A status hearing in the case is set for February 19. If convicted… Huckstep faces 45 to 85 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
