More heat is on the way, with storms a possibility through midweek in northeast Missouri and western Illinois as the last week of spring begins.

National Weather Service forecasters say the chance of showers and thunderstorms moves into the area Monday afternoon, with increasing chances of storms through Tuesday night, and a slight chance of rain Wednesday morning. Sunny skies move in Wednesday afternoon through Sunday.

High temperatures in the low to mid 90s continue through Thursday, dropping only into the upper 80s Friday and Saturday and back to around 90 Sunday.

Lows start in the low to mid 70s, dropping to the mid to upper 60s Thursday through Saturday.

Summer officially begins at 5:34 p.m. CDT Monday, June 20.
