Hannibal Board of Public Works crews are starting the annual process of flow testing fire hydrants.

The tests will continue until completed during September. The flow tests will be between 7:30 a-m and 3:30 p-m weekdays. The tests help obtain data on flow and water pressure for firefighting as well as assuring that all hydrants are operational. BPW officials caution that that the tests can stir up sediment in water lines that can discolor laundry. You are encouraged to avoid doing laundry when hydrants in your area are being tested. If you notice cloudy water during the tests… BPW officials recommend running cold water into your bathtub for about ten minutes. Contact BPW if the cloudy water does not clear up.
