An Elmwood, Illinois man is in the Hancock County Jail on an aggravated battery charge.

According to Sheriff Scott Bentzinger, 67 year old Dorrance Smysor was arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a stabbing that occurred in Warsaw Monday night.

An investigation revealed that Smysor, 57 year old Terry Hake of Canton and 40 year old Brial Cleer of Warsaw had been fishing Monday. An argument between Cleer and Smysor led to a physical altercation, and Smysor is alleged to have stabbed and cut Cleer with a knife.

Cleer was taken to Blessing Hospital for treatment.

Smysor awaits his first court appearance.
