A 70-year-old McHenry County man has been found guilty of murdering his neighbor near Tightwad, Missouri.

A news release from the office of Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced the conviction of Lonny Leroy Mays. Mays was found guilty of killing 66-year-old Rudy Romdall, his neighbor. According to the Attorney General, Romdall was sitting in his vehicle when Mays fired a rifle through the car door, killing him.

“It is tragic that a disagreement among neighbors could senselessly end a man’s life,” Koster said. “While nothing can lessen the loss for the victim’s friends and family, at least the conviction brings some measure of justice.”

Mays was convicted of murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. Sentencing is scheduled for October 28.
