The Hannibal Arts Council will host a free Casual Classics concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.6 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St. The concert will feature the HLGU String Orchestra. Admission is free and open to the public and is part of the Historic Hannibal Marketing Council’s Victorian Festival of Christmas.

The beginning orchestra will perform Traditions of Christmas (Carols from Europe), Believe from The Polar Express film, The Twelve Days of Christmas and All is Well (with Silent Night). The advanced orchestra will perform Allegro Con Brio from The Christmas Symphony, Down in Yon Forest (English Folk Song), Sing Noel (French Carol) and Highland Holiday.

The HLGU String Orchestra consists of string players of all ages, including HLGU students and faculty, community members and students of string teachers in the Hannibal area. Jane Griffen, HLGU Music Department Chair is the orchestra conductor and John Ferguson, HLGU String Instructor is the assistant conductor.

Members of the orchestra are: Violin I: Carol Nichols, Rebecca Purba, Emily Ayers, Josiah Campbell, Robert Nehus, Jaynee Durst, Emily Edwards, Alysia Winters. Violin II: Chrissy Evans, Jordyn Evans, Peter Danielsons, Emily Edwards, Kaitlyn Self, Noah Bock, Avery Daffron. Viola: John Ferguson, Kae Blecha, Gwendolyn Jenkins. Cello: Ashley Ayers, Titus Campbell, Jane Danielsons, Katie Schisler. String Bass: Frank North. Piano: Angela Smith. Percussion: Bonnie Campbell, Angela Smith, Daniel Bock.

Prior to the Dec. 6 performance, these same players will perform as a part of the HLGU Music Department Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. on Dec.3 at the Roland Fine Arts Center.
