Fire Destroys Rural Marion County Home Friday

A rural Marion County couple is homeless as the result of a residential fire Friday evening.

Firefighters were called to the residence on Marion County Road 201 near the Shelby County line south of Emden about 6 p.m. Friday.

Fire crews say the blaze started on the north side of the house and then spread. The home was described as a total loss.

The couple who lived in the home did get out safely.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
