An early morning fire destroys a camper north of Hannibal.

Hannibal Rural Firefighters were called to 5900 Scipio Lane at 2:32 this (MON) morning. Fire crews arrived to find a 31 foot camper trailer fully involved in flames. Neighbors across the road awakened to the sound of tires exploding due to the heat. Several propane bottles were a concern but safety valves operated correctly and the propane burned off. The camper was owned by Bob Dillion of Canton. Dillon told fire crews his family left the trailer around 3 p-m Sunday. Fire damage was confined to the trailer which is a total loss. Cause of the fire is undetermined. No injuries are reported. Fire fighters were on the scene for just over an hour.
