The good news for those of us that don't like winter is Missouri hasn't had much snow this year. The bad news for the foliage in Missouri is we haven't had much snow this year which has resulted in very dry ground, grass and trees.

The dry winter combined with the drought conditions that Missouri has been dealing with for the past two years has led the National Weather Service in St. Louis to issue another warning about elevated fire danger today.

The fact that it's very windy in many parts of Missouri today add to the risk.

Even parking on dry grass can lead to the ignition of a wildfire. In case you didn't know, Missouri already has a handful of wildfires burning in the southern part of the state including the Mark Twain National Forest region.

When you combine the dry conditions in Missouri with the expected record highs at the start of the week, you have a dangerous scenario for wildfires in the state.

That's why no matter what your weekend plans happen to be in Missouri, avoid lighting matches or doing anything that might case a fire to spark. Missouri has enough of those burning already.
